What is DDoS Protection?
DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) protection is the network and application layer defense that keeps your sites, landing pages, and APIs online when attackers flood them with traffic. For ad-driven businesses, an hour of downtime during a campaign push can cost more than a year of protection.
What DDoS protection blocks
Volumetric attacks (Tbps of junk packets), protocol attacks (SYN floods, UDP reflection), application-layer attacks (HTTP floods, slow-loris), and bot-driven credential stuffing. Each requires different mitigation logic.
Layers of protection
Edge CDN (Cloudflare, Akamai, Fastly) absorbs volumetric and protocol attacks. WAF rules block application-layer abuse. Bot management filters bots from real users. Rate limiting prevents request storms. Deploy all four.
